About this Collection

Our modern world has fundamentally changed the relationship between our evolutionarily ancient biological clocks and the solar day. This collection explores the mechanisms by which circadian rhythms and sleep affect mental and physical health, with emphasis on how disruption of these crucial biological systems enhance resilience or impart vulnerability. Particular focus will be placed on neurobehavioral function, metabolic regulation, and immune processes with the goal of describing the phenomena and understanding the mechanisms by which they can affect health and disease.
