Abstract
Multidimensional tools have been recommended to assess chronic pain (1). The Adolescent Pediatric Pain Tool (APPT) is a multidimensional tool that assesses pain location (body outline diagram; BOD), intensity (word-graphic-rating-scale; WGRS) and quality (67 pain descriptors). Our aim was to identify age range, health conditions, settings, and purpose for which APPT has been used, the components used, and its clinical and research utility.

As pain is both subjective and multidimensional, obtaining self-report of pain with the APPT may help clinicians to better understand pain experience and tailor pain management strategies. We recommend the use of the APPT both in research and clinical practice.
