About Emergency Medicine Society of South Africa

The Emergency Medicine Society of South Africa (EMSSA) represents a group of enthusiastic healthcare professionals dedicated to the development of quality emergency care throughout South Africa. Emergency medicine has only recently been recognised as an independent speciality, although South Africa has always had a large burden of patients presenting to our out-of-hospital and in-hospital emergency services. Advancing our local knowledge economy through dissemination of research is considered vital to improve the acute care service we provide.
