Rapid and transparent dissemination of Open Research in all areas of addiction and related behaviors

Scope & Focus

This Gateway aims to provide researchers, policymakers and clinical practitioners with a space to disseminate work related to all areas of addiction and related behaviors. It facilitates the rapid and transparent sharing of related research by providing fast, open publication alongside access to underlying data.  

The Addiction and Related Behaviors Gateway welcomes basic, clinical and translational research on all areas of addiction and related behaviors including, but not limited to:

  • Problem use and substance addiction
  • Behavioral addictions such as technology and gambling, as well as eating disorders
  • Psychological processes and mechanisms
  • Physical dependence
  • Social determinants and social consequences, including addiction stigma
  • Prevention, harm reduction and treatment

Related Collections

The Gambling and Gaming Addiction Collection is open and accepting submissions. If you would like to propose a themed collection in a subject related to the gateway or otherwise have any questions, please get in contact with us via publishing@f1000.com.

Submission and publication process

We accept submissions from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, public health, medicine, philosophy and neuroscience, as well as the fields of social science. Interdisciplinary research and policy-based recommendations are also particularly welcome.

The range of article types offered by F1000Research facilitates the dissemination of such work as openly and quickly as possible and include Case Studies, Policy Briefs, Method articles, as well as Research and Review articles, among others. Each publication will undergo fully transparent post-publication peer review following the F1000Researchpublication model.
