About this Gateway
It is essential that information about a sudden increase in occurrences of a disease in a particular time and place is made publicly available so that others can respond to an outbreak effectively. This Gateway aggregates all research outputs published on F1000Research related to disease outbreaks at a local and global scale, as well as emerging infectious diseases. Relevant diseases include:
  • Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
  • Influenza
  • Ebola virus (EBOV)
  • Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS)
  • Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
  • Monkeypox (mpox)
  • Zika virus (ZIKV)
  • Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS)
We accept all types of publications relating to an outbreak, including but not limited to:
  • reports on setting up treatment centers
  • clinical case reports
  • guidelines on protective equipment
  • animal models of infection and disease
  • basic mechanisms of disease
  • epidemiological studies
  • drug discovery and development
  • policy briefings, clinical trials, and more.
