About this Gateway
GDC Difusión Científica has created the GDC Open Research in Latin America Gateway to highlight the work of Latin American researchers, to amplify the impact of their research, and to promote the principles of open science throughout Latin America and beyond.  A multidisciplinary space, this Gateway will facilitate the spread of specialized knowledge on Latin American Studies, while also supporting the work of Latin American scholars in other fields.

Scope
The Gateway welcomes articles on a wide range of topics, especially those with a focus on Latin America.  Original research is welcome from scholars working across the social sciences, arts, humanities and sciences.  Specialist Gateway Areas are dedicated to subjects of particular interest, including:
  • Advances in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics
  • Art, Literature and Culture
  • Education
  • Government, Politics & International Relations
  • Medicine and Public Health
  • Studies in Latin American Society
The Gateway welcomes a variety of different article types, including research articles, methodologies, reviews, editorials, data notes, software tools, policy briefs and case studies.  The range of options enables researchers to share—and receive credit for—all the different outputs of their research.  A full list of article types and their descriptions is available under Article Guidelines.  Each article will undergo fully transparent post-publication peer review following the F1000Research publication model

The GDC Gateway also accepts submissions of supplementary outputs, such as conference proceedings, meeting abstracts, and other documents, posters and slides.  For more information on submitting these materials, please email GDC directly via contacto@difusion.com.mx and include "GDC Open Research Submissions" in the subject line.

Submission requirements
GDC Open Research in Latin America will always be open access for the global academic community, serving as a forum for all those interested in reading and sharing knowledge about Latin America.  Researchers from Latin America are particularly encouraged to submit to GDC Open Research, but the Gateway welcomes articles on subjects within the scope from scholars around the world.

In order for the Gateway to extend the impact and international visibility of Latin American research, all articles must be submitted and published in English.

As an open research venue, the Gateway requires authors to make any data underpinning their findings available to readers and reviewers via a suitable data repository.  By including links to underlying data, GDC Open Research aims to support and accelerate research in and about Latin America.  For details, please see our Data Guidelines.
