About this Gateway
Scope
From prevention to diagnosis, treatment to survivorship, it is essential that all cancer research and underlying data is available rapidly and without restrictions to decision makers.

The Oncology Gateway brings together all research outputs from cancer research and welcomes submissions in all areas of Oncology research, including:
  • Biology: biomarkers, genetics, genomics and epigenetics, systems biology, metabolism
  • Diagnosis & Prognosis: imaging, biopsy, predictive factors, demographic, behavioral, disease-specific, comorbidities
  • Surgery & Therapy: radiation oncology, surgical oncology, immunotherapy, cell therapy, stem cells, chemotherapy
  • Epidemiology & Prevention: infectious agents and vaccines, early detection, genetic and environmental risk factors,
  • Survivorship: late effects, disease reoccurrence, quality of life, economic impact of cancer
This Gateway allows submission of cancer research in a number of different article formats, including Methods, Study Protocols and Data Notes. We also accept non-peer reviewed formats such as Documents, Posters and Slides. These formats provide early visibility of developing knowledge.

Eligibility
Submission is open to all those involved in cancer research.

Collections Currently Open for Submissions:
Radiomics (Guest Advisor: Dr Alberto Traverso)

Equitable Cancer Care (Guest Advisor: Dr Matthew Schabath)

Childhood Cancer (Guest Advisor: Dr Ana Banito)

Breakthroughs in Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Submission deadline: 8th March 2024

Gateway Areas
The Biology area focusses on the relationship between genes, proteins and biological systems that drive the development and growth of cancers. Publishing research on biomarkers, genetics, genomics and epigenetics, systems biology and metabolism, among other topics, understanding the biological development of cancer is essential to identify new treatment targets.
The Epidemiology & Prevention area disseminates research on the risk factors associated with cancer development and the interventions to minimise this risk. Topics covered include infectious agents and vaccines, social determinants of health, disparities of cancer, genetic and environmental factors, behavioural determinants of health, early detection, screening and preventative interception.
The Diagnosis & Prognosis area focusses on accurate and early detection of cancer through imaging and biopsies, as well as the likely progression and survival rates of different type, stage and grades of cancer.
The Surgery & Therapy area focusses on disseminating research on all types of cancer treatment. In particular, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, immunotherapy, cell therapy, stem cells and chemotherapy.
The Survivorship area focusses on disseminating research on the health and well-being of a patient from diagnosis to end of life. Topics include late effects, disease reoccurrence, quality of life and economic impact of cancer.
