About this Gateway
Understanding the blueprint of life and its influence on growth, development and disease has been vital to the study of genetics. Since the advent of DNA sequencing technology, the study of genetics and genomics has grown at pace, and more is yet to be uncovered.

The Genomics and Genetics Gateway takes advantage of the plethora of article types on the F1000Research platform to collate research across all facets of the discipline, including:

  • Epidemiological genetics
  • Evolutionary genetics
  • Genetics of disease
  • Precision medicine and medical genomics
  • Ecological and environmental genetics
  • Plant genomics
  • Genome sequencing
  • Technology and methods

This Gateway allows submission of different article formats, including Methods, Study Protocols, Data Notes and Genome Notes. We also accept non-peer reviewed formats such as Posters and Slides. These formats provide early visibility of developing knowledge.

Eligibility
Submission is open to all researchers involved in the study of genetics, genomics and inheritance.

Collections Currently Open for Submissions:
Structural & Comparative Genomics - Guest Advisors: Dr Natasha Glover, Dr David Moi, Dr Gustavo Caetano-Anolles and Dr Luca Zammataro

Ancient DNA - Guest Advisors: Assistant Professor Michael Vincent Westbury and Dr Francesco Montinaro

Evolutionary Genomics - Guest Advisors: Professor Robert Desalle, Dr Martine Zilversmit

From genes to genomes: Investigating the population species boundary in non-model Fungi - Guest Advisors: Associate Professor Bryn Dentinger and Keaton Tremble

Gateway Areas
This gateway area hosts content which studies the role of genetic factors in determining the etiology and distribution of health and disease, in families and in populations.

This gateway area hosts content which studies how genetic variation leads to evolutionary change and the diversity of life from a genetic perspective.
This gateway area hosts content that studies the genetic basis of disease including single gene disorders, chromosomal imbalances, epigenetics, cancer and complex disorders.
This gateway area hosts content that studies the application and integration of genomic data to better understand the genetic bases of drug response and disease, and therapeutic approaches involving the use of an individual’s genetic and epigenetic information to tailor drug therapy or preventive care.
This gateway area hosts content that studies the genetics natural field populations and gene-environment interactions.
This gateway area hosts content that studies plant genomics, such as mechanisms of hereditary transmission and variation of inherited characteristics.
This gateway area highlights genome sequences published on F1000Research.
